Korea Eximbank and KAIDEC Sign Coorperation Agreement

□ On July 14, Chairman Kim Dongsoo of Korea Eximbank and President Hwang Won Kyu of the Korean Association of International Development and Cooperation (KAIDEC), signed a cooperation agreement for greater efficiency of EDCF supports and promotion of research in international development cooperation.

※ KAIDEC is an academic research organization established to study international development cooperation and encourage policy development. There are over 300 members representing academia, the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. KAIDEC collaborates with domestic and overseas international development institutions as well as civic groups and research organizations.

○ This agreement will facilitate information exchange and cooperation throughtout the entire processes of EDCF supports, cooperation for study of international development cooperation, joint development and promotion of ODA policies, and development of experts in international development cooperation.

□ President Kim remarked, "With this agreement, Korea Eximbank is better positioned to benefit from the counsel of KAIDEC in regards to EDCF policy development and EDCF activities as well as to support empirical research on international development cooperation. I hope our two organizations can collaborate to advance Korea's standing as a major donor country to befit the level of Korea's economy."

□ As of June 2010, Korea Eximbank has acted on behalf of the Korean government to provide a total commitment of KRW 6.4 trillion to support 236 projects in 47 countries.
