Yong Hwan Kim, Former First Senior Deputy Governor of the FSS, Appointed the New Chairman & President of Korea Eximbank

The Ministry of Strategy and Finance announced on February 7 that First Senior Deputy Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) Yong Hwan Kim has been appointed to serve as the 17th Chairman & President of the Export-Import Bank of Korea.

The newly appointed Chairman began his career in government specializing in the economic sector after passing the 23rd Civil Servant Examination for Public Administration in 1980. He has since served in various posts to oversee financial policies and securities such as Welfare Life Section Director of the Ministry of Finance and Economy, Securities Supervision Section Director of the Financial Services Commission (FSC), Chief Media Officer, Director of Financial Policy Bureau, Standing Commissioner of the FSC and the Securities & Futures Commission (SFC), etc.

Chairman Kim is regarded in high esteem for his deep insights and decisiveness. He is known for skillfully resolving complex issues such as the listing of life insurance companies in the stock market.

Many are confident that Chairman Kim, well-known for his kindness and consideration for others as well as his friendliness, will successfully serve as the new chairman of Korea Eximbank.

During his career, Chairman Kim has attained much experience in corporate and export-import related issues as he led preemptive corporate restructuring efforts as the First Senior Deputy Governor of the FSS and accumulated various work experiences in export finance and foreign investments while he worked at the International Finance Bureau of the Ministry of Finance for many years.

Born in Boryeong, Chungcheongnam-do, he graduated from Seoul High School to major in economics at Sungkyunkwan University and received a master's degree in economics from Vanderbilt University. Chairman Kim also holds a doctorate in business administration from Kyung Hee University.
