Date 2011.03.11 View 27982
On February 18, the new Chairman and President of Korea Eximbank Yong Hwan Kim visited companies in Nam Dong Industrial Complex, In-Cheon, in order to gain a better sense of the actual sentiments of exporting SMEs and their needs. SMEs have been hard hit by recent jumps in raw material prices. During his visit, a meeting was held with approximately 10 CEOs of partner SMEs.

- Amotech (producer of chip varistors, small motors, and GPS antennas)
- Eosystem (producer of optical-glass lenses and products such as night vision glasses)

Chairman Kim stated, "Companies are now in a precarious situation. They must grow or die. Only companies that are creative and innovative will survive. Korea Eximbank will intensify its support for exporting SMEs with leading technology and great business potential as well as establish a financial system fostering mutual growth of large corporations and SMEs."

The Chairman added that in order to do so, "Korea Eximbank will carefully analyze the real needs of export SMEs and develop new financial programs to enhance the efficiency and impact of financial support."

After having emphasized the importance of communication and being in touch with SMEs in his inauguration speech on February 7, the Chairman wasted no time in assessing the needs of SMEs to reflect those needs in financial support programs.

The Chairman plans to continue visiting SMEs and holding meetings with CEOs of SMEs to maintain close communications with the sector under a field focused management philosophy.

This year, Korea Eximbank plans to continue efforts to discover SMEs with great potential in terms of technology and growth but held back due to inexperience in entering overseas markets or lack of funding. In addition, Korea Eximbank will expand financial supports for such companies.

Moreover, as a specialized policy bank for supporting green finance, the Bank will actively search for companies with great potential in green industries and provide tailored financial support from the early stages of technology development to the final stage of export.
