□ On May 26, Korea Eximbank(www.koreaexim.go.kr, Chairman Yong Hwan Kim) donated KRW 20 million to Mezzanine I-Pack and Mezzanine Ecoone, social enterprises in Paju, Gyeonggi Province.
○ Over 50% of the employees in these social enterprises are North Korean defectors (Saetuhmin). Mezzanine I-Pack is a box manufacturer and Mezzanine Ecoone produces wood blinds.
○ The donation will be applied towards the purchase of machinery and additional employment of 13 Saetuhmin.
* Social enterprises provide jobs and social services to underprivileged groups while producing goods and services for sale to enhance the quality of life for local residents and contribute to society.
□ Upon making the donation, Seong Gwan Noh, Executive Director of Korea Eximbank, stated, “Social enterprises have greatly assisted the increasing number of multi-cultural families and North Korean defectors secure jobs and adjust to their new homes. Korea Eximbank, as the government-run bank entrusted with EDCF and IKCF, will continue to support social enterprises and their noble causes.”
□ Korea Eximbank donates 1% of its net profits and the employees of the Bank donate a part of their salaries in order to assist underprivileged and marginalized groups.
