□ On May 31, Korea Eximbank (www.koreaexim.go.kr, Chairman Yong Hwan Kim) announced that 38 new companies, including Taewoong and Shinsung Solar Energy were selected for the bank’s Hidden Champion program.
? Each of the selected companies holds 53 patents on average, possesses leading technologies in its field, and demonstrates aggressive expansion into overseas markets with KRW 143.8 billion in export amounts and 60% of sales arising from exports.
- Nine of the newly selected companies are active in the green and new growth sectors to lead exports in the green industry, and 20 of them are medium-sized enterprises, legally designated for assistance under the Industrial Development Act.
□ Korea Eximbank plans to actively provide the newly selected companies with customized financial services for exports and overseas investment as well as non-financial services such as consulting services on overseas expansion strategy and international legal issues.
□ Since Korea Eximbank launched the Hidden Champion Initiative in 2009, 111 companies have been selected as of December 2010.
? The bank has selected 38 companies this year and plans to select an additional 30 to 40 potential Hidden Champion candidates in the second half of this year.
