When development assistance projects greatly enhance national development, they will also enhance the image of Korea and Korean companies worldwide, much like K-pop.

By expanding knowledge of our language and culture to other countries through the dispatch of teachers from Korea and adoption of Korean educational programs overseas, we can greatly enhance the national image of Korea.

If students in Cambodia are able to gain vocational training and learn foreign languages and information technologies from an institute furnished with the latest equipment, they can then work in Korea and achieve the Korean dream while contributing to the development and growth of Cambodia.

In order to ensure that development assistance by Korea makes such positive impacts and is in line with the international trend of result-based management in development aid, Korea Eximbank works with the Ministry of Strategy and Finance to improve assessment systems.

After the 2005 Paris Declaration and 2008 Accra Agenda for Action, development assistance has focused on result-based management and autonomous development by the recipient country. Therefore, organizations are increasingly assessing the overall development process and not merely the results of a project for enhanced management of development projects.

This workshop is an extension of such efforts and builds upon steps taken to develop the EDCF assessment plan in early 2011, establish an assessment information system from April to June 2011, and conclude MOUs for knowledge sharing with institutions of developed nations such as Germany’s KfW in May 2011.

Korea Eximbank hopes to make real impacts on beneficiary countries through diversified forms of assessment by loan type and subject as well as increased participation of the beneficiary country.
