Multicultural Families in Rural Areas to Take New Cars to Town

Date 2012.03.16 View 27302
The Export-Import Bank of Korea (Korea Eximbank) announced on February 14 that it has donated vans to three multicultural family support centers located in farming and fishing communities.

Dr. Yong Hwan Kim, chairman and president of Korea Eximbank, presented the donations in a ceremony held at Bank headquarters attended by Chairman Dong Gun Lee of the Community Chest of Korea. Donated vehicles were transferred to multicultural family support centers in Taebaek (Gangwon-do), Hwasoon (Jeollanam-do), and Seoguipo (Jeju Island).

The vehicles will be used by multicultural family support centers to facilitate access to the center or make house calls to the homes of multicultural families in remote areas where public transportation is limited.

Chairman Kim stated, “Korea Eximbank has strived to make a real difference through community outreach programs. We plan to donate additional vehicles to other multicultural family support centers in the second half of this year.”

In addition to donating vehicles, Korea Eximbank actively supports community service activities through its SEED program, through which a portion (0.5%) of profits from financing large corporations are given to assisting disadvantaged sectors and families in need.
