Korea Eximbank Donates Vehicles to Nine Multicultural Family Support Centers

Date 2012.09.20 View 28016
The Export-Import Bank of Korea (www.koreaexim.go.kr, Chairman Yong Hwan Kim, “ Korea Eximbank”) announced on September 20 that it has donated nine light commercial vehicles with a combined value of KRW 100 million to nine multicultural family support centers in Korea.

Chairman Yong Hwan Kim of Korea Eximbank presented the donations in a ceremony held at the bank’s headquarters attended by Chairman Dong-geon Lee of the Community Chest of Korea. The donated vehicles were transferred to multicultural family support centers in Donghae City, Seocheon County, Goesan County, Jangseong County, Jeonju City, Namhae County, Chilgok County, Yangpyung County, and Paju City.

Chairman Kim stated, “Korea Eximbank has strived to make a real difference through community outreach programs. I hope that the vehicles will serve as convenient means for visiting multicultural families in rural communities.”

Ji Hoon Lee, head of the multicultural family support center in Jeonju City, said “It was difficult to have multicultural families participate in educational programs at our center due to labor shortages in farming and limited transportation. I am very pleased that Korea Eximbank’s donation will enable us to provide education for multicultural families where they live by making door-to-door visits.”

The vehicles will be used by multicultural family support centers to make transportation more convenient for their staff and the multicultural families they serve.

Korea Eximbank had already donated vans to three multicultural family support centers in farming and fishing communities in February this year.

In addition to donating vehicles, Korea Eximbank is actively engaged in community service activities through its SEED program, which channels a portion (0.5%) of profits earned from financing large companies to assisting disadvantaged groups and families in need.
