Christmas Tree-lighting Event with Children from Multicultural Families

Date 2012.12.18 View 27801
The Export-Import Bank of Korea (www.koreaexim.go.kr, Chairman Yong-hwan Kim, “Korea Eximbank”) held a Christmas tree-lighting ceremony at its headquarters on December 17 to wish happiness and inspire hope for the underprivileged in society.

The event was attended by Chairman Yong Hwan Kim and 150 members of Korea Eximbank, as well as 40 parents and children from the Hong Chun Multicultural Family Center, a sister organization to Korea Eximbank, in Gangwon Province.

In particular, the performance of “Dream of the Goose” and a variety of carol songs by parents and children from the Family Center added warmth to the tree-lighting ceremony.

After the singing performance, Chairman Kim handed out mufflers as Christmas gifts to the children from multicultural families and donated 2000 movie tickets to the families through Mr. Choong-hwan Park, President of Multicultural Family Center Association.

Chairman Kim said in his congratulatory speech, “This tree-lighting ceremony is made all the more meaningful by children from multicultural families who came all the way from Hong Chun to hold a small concert for our staff. We will continue to expand our support for multicultural families in the coming year through the SEED Community Service program.”

Korea Eximbank has also provided KRW 30 million in scholarship for children of North Korean defectors through the SEED Community Service Program, which is funded by a portion (0.5%) of the proceeds from Korea Eximbank’s loans to large corporations.
