The Export-Import Bank of Korea (www.koreaexim.go.kr, Chairman Kim Yong-hwan, “Korea Eximbank”) announced that it held a Christmas tree-lighting ceremony by its CSR program Seed of Hope at the bank’s headquarters on December 16.

Some 200 people including Korea Eximbank Chairman Kim Yong-hwan, female world boxing champion Choi Hyun-mi, and the directors of six libraries for children from multicultural families, attended the ceremony held in order to wish a happy new year and inspire hope for the underprivileged in society.

In particular, the attendees were treated to a concert performance consisting of tap dancing, singing, and acting by 'Collage,' a tap dance company of children from multicultural families established with Korea Eximbank's support.

After the ceremony, Chairman Kim handed out mufflers as Christmas gifts to the children from multicultural families and donated KRW 60 million to the directors of the libraries for children from multicultural families.

Chairman Kim said in his congratulatory speech, “This tree-lighting ceremony is made all the more meaningful by children from multicultural families who braved this harsh weather to hold a small concert for our staff. We will continue to expand our support for multicultural families in the coming year through our Seed of Hope program.”

Korea Eximbank has been actively involved in helping the underprivileged in Korean society including multicultural families and resettled North Koreans through Seed of Hope, which is funded by a portion of the proceeds from Korea Eximbank’s loans to large corporations.

Starting from November, the Bank's staff has been voluntarily running a fund-raising campaign to finance year-end charity programs.
