□ On July 1, Chairman Kim Dongsoo of Korea Eximbank, signed a US$50 million Interbank Export Loan Agreement("Agreement") with Hector Rangel Domene, the CEO of Bancomext. The signing was held at Lost Pinos, the residence of Mexico's President, and was attended by South Korean President Lee Myung Bak and President Felipe Calderon of Mexico("Agreement")
※The Interbank Export Loan Agreement establishes a line of credit between Korea Eximbank and a participating foreign bank to provide financing for local importers of Korean goods and services. The agreement promotes exports of Korean goods through a foreign office of Korea Eximbank in the importing country.
□ Through the agreement, Korea Eximbank will be able to assist Korean companies to increase exports to Mexico as Mexican importers can utilize the line of credit when importing korean goods and services.
□ According to a representative of Korea Eximbank, "This agreement will further increase the exports to Mexico in the areas of electronics, automobiles, textiles, etc, where demands are rising in Mexico.
□ Mexico is one of Korea's top 10 importers and the biggest importer in Latin America. Once the Korea-Mexico FTA is concluded, economic cooperation between the two countries is expected to expand even further.
□ On June 28 during the Korea-SICA Summit at Panama City, Chairman Kim also signed a US$50 million Interbank Export Loan Agreement with Daniel Toribio, General Administrator of Banco de Reservas de la Republica Dominicana, the biggest state run bank in the Dominican Republic.
